PORTFOLIO: Cold Heading of a Steel Tie Rod
A manufacturer of vending machines turned to Begoun, Inc. to supply a tie rod for one of their vending products. The 28.435″ by .152″ tie rod needed to be strong and durable, and the customer required the part within a tight turnaround time.
Based on the configuration and specifications, Begoun chose to cold head this part. The tie rod was constructed of C1018 cold rolled steel, required threading, and received a zinc trivalent chromate finish.
